Since 2005 Commercial Training Solutions (CTS) has been the mining industry’s go-to provider for the most innovative safety training. We realized that safety and lectures can only get you so far, particularly because their static instructional method offers little in the way of quantifiable learning. So we came up with a much more comprehensive, long-term answer — an active training experience.
CTS uses virtual environments to mimic on-the-job training in the classroom. Trainees are given knowledge, then immediately asked to apply that knowledge to a task or situation in the virtual environment. The application of the knowledge often requires hazard recognition and decision-making skills to complete. When learners are provided with a context for their learning they retain greater knowledge about what they’ve experienced virtually and can utilize it effectively in real life.
